Tea Time Treats – Delia’s Lemon Meringue Pie

15 January 2012

Last night I discovered two lovely blogs: ‘Lavender and Lovage’ and ‘What Kate Baked’. Together they host a monthly blogging event known as ‘Tea Time Treats’,with a different theme each month. Participants are invited to join in the virtual tea party by sharing their blog post about their tea time bakes. This month it’s sweet pastries and breads, and luckily for me the lemon meringue pie I had planned for lunch today falls into this category.

I used Delia’s recipe from her ‘Complete Cookery Course’, though I did make extra meringue topping as the quantity specified fell a little short. The result was a very tasty combination of tart lemon filling and lovely sweet meringue.

Really great treat – I haven't eaten a lemon meringue pie in far too long. This looks great. You're quite right to increase the amount of topping – you can never have too much meringue.

Thank you so much for entering Tea Time Treats…and with such a delicious dish! I too really enjoy a (large) slice of lemon meringue pie – I've yet to try Delia's recipe but it'll definately be added to the 'To-Bake' list!

Lovely meringue piping skills there. I like a deeper lemony bit but it certainly looks good.

Your lemon meringue is exquisite. I admire your piping skills too, I am terrible at piping, something i need to remedy with practice.

Thanks for all the lovely comments. I made meringues for the kids with some of the extra meringue I had whipped up. Wish I had taken pictures of them devouring them. That made quite a mess!

Hello new followers, and welcome to Vanilla Frost.

Oh my that does look lovely, what I would not give for a large slice of that with a cup of tea. I don't think I've ever made a Lemon Meringue, oops another recipe to add to my list of bakes 😉

Your lemon meringue looks really elegant. Piping skills are something I haven't yet acquired. I'm also with Phil, you can't have too much meringue.
